THE MENUS

VATA

A nutritive, strengthening, calming, and grounding diet is best for Vata people.

Food should be warm, heavy, and moist.

Make sure that you establish a time for your meals and stick to it to promote regularity.

Avoid cold water. It will destroy your Agni and weaken your digestion. At this time of healing, it is crucial that you have strong digestive fire.

Spices to cook with in generous amounts are: asafoetida, rock salt, garlic, ginger, cumin, fennel, coriander, cardamom, cinnamon, and ajwan.

Try to choose all ingredients organic if possible.

Frequency of meals: For Vat it’s important to have frequent and regular meals. Therefore, with this detox plan you will have 3 meals a day.

The quantity? Because your body will go under a change with the different types of meals, you don’t want to also put the pressure of measuring and undereating. Just make sure you are eating at 70-75% of your capacity. For most recipes, though, I include suggested guidelines.

To drink? Vata tea with meals and throughout the day.

If you want to do it strictly vegan then change the ghee for coconut, olive, or avocado oil.

PITTA

A cooling, calming, cleansing, and nurturing diet is best for Pitta people.

Food should be cool, heavy, and a little dry.

It is recommended to include green juices as part of an anti-pitta diet.

Make sure that you establish a time for your meals and stick to it to promote regularity.

Avoid cold water. It will destroy your Agni and weaken your digestion. At this time of healing, it is crucial that you have strong digestive fire. However, favor cool drinks.
