I am Monica. Your humble Ayurveda teacher. I am a woman devoted to guiding you back to harmony within your body and mind ♡

There was a time, many, many years ago, when I looked at myself in the mirror and couldn’t recognize my body, my face, or my eyes anymore.

Seeing how my body was deteriorating in real time made me feel helpless, frustrated, and bitter. A victim of uncontrollable circumstances.

At that juncture, I failed to see the undeniable rock-solid connection between my hectic lifestyle, rushed meals, strenuous workouts, and the harsh self-judgment I subjected myself to (more like self-hate). I continued navigating life as I had known. Totally disconnected from my heart and detached from my intuition.

It took reaching my lowest point, facing a liver disease diagnosis, and battling severe facial acne, to finally open my eyes and realize that I had more power to improve my situation than I could have ever imagined.

I just needed to take the decision to start changing my life and believe in myself.

Through a series of events, I discovered healing in Ayurveda, embraced intuitive workouts for the first time, and cultivated a daily mindful presence.

My purpose (my dharma) evolved into deepening my knowledge, sharing my journey, and creating tools, like Prana app, to empower women — just like you and me — to reconnect with their bodies, reignite their inner strength, and tap into their intuition.

My passion for teaching and cooking

The heart of a teacher has always beat within me ever since I was a little girl.

From helping my brothers with their homework, or my classmates with difficult lessons, to formal, elementary classrooms, where I was a teacher and coach; to Ayurveda.

Teaching has always been my calling, and I’m profoundly grateful for the opportunity to embrace it daily 🙂

Plus, I have always felt passionate about cooking! As I grew older, this passion only intensified. Cooking has become my expression of lovecreativity, and curiosity.

My Ayurveda and wellness credentials?

  1. I earned my professional certification as an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant from the American Institute of Vedic Studies.
  2. I have engaged in extensive academic studies with the Health and Wellness Department at Harvard University, and specialize in designing sustainable nutrition plans.
  3. I have successfully completed extensive training to earn professional certification as a fitness trainer. The training covered anatomy, nutrition, exercise science, biomechanics, and training techniques by the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA).

My teaching background has also honed my skills in communication, empathy, and understanding. As a teacher, I learned that every individual is unique, each with their learning curves, strengths, and areas of growth.

Translating this to the realm of Ayurveda and well-being, I realized the importance of personalizing health regimens. What works for one woman may not work for another, and this individual-centric approach is fundamental to Ayurveda.

Weight training is often neglected when we practice Ayurveda. Instead, we focus more on stretching and walking. However, weights can positively affect Vata Dosha and promote strength, muscle and bone health, and avoid the wasting of tissues.

Sometimes it’s difficult to reconcile both Ayurveda and fitness because people often tend to have strenuous workouts and focus on the “no pain no gain” philosophy. But, we can lift weights in an intuitive manner, differentiated by our Dosha pr body type, be gentle on our body, and still see amazing results.

I got my period 🩸and this is my movement session for today✨. Plus some walking outside, breathing fresh air, and eating wholesome foods🫐. It’s all about self-care, self-love, honoring our needs💖, and recognizing we do not need to be productive 24/7/365, specially when we are in such an important phase of the month.

This is your reminder to always warm up the muscles before working out. For every fitness session on @prana_app you have included a prep to help you have greater range of motion and avoid injury 👌🏼👏🏼✨
Progress looks different for everyone. For me, with Strong & fit @prana_app it really involved getting to the point of lifting heavier without compromising my form. This is just an example. With barbell squats, at the beginning I was just able to do comfortably the weight of the barbell. I had been working from home for a while after the pandemic and with no plan really. But following a structured plan has helped me to push further. I can emphasize enough this much we really need to have a program. So, I went from that, to lifting heavier and feeling stronger. The progression included some husband’s spotting. 

I feel great and love the way my body is changing its composition 🥰

On Earth Day🌳, I want to pay a special tribute to nature, from where we came and where our bodies one day will return. To foster a deep connection with Pacha Mama✨, there’s just nothing like getting to feel the ground or a body of water with your feet and hands. No music, no chatting. Just the meditative noise of nature and our entire presence and intention focused on that moment, that feeling, that vibration. I am washing my hands and symbolically I am letting this healing stream take my worries and fears away. I feel refreshed and ready to start a NEW🌷 chapter that is perfectly synchronizing with the upcoming new moon🌑. Good things are always coming our way if we believe it💝
