Tools to balance your crown chakra

The Crown Chakra, or Sahasrara in Sanskrit, is the highest of the seven chakras of our body and the gateway to the Universe.

When out of sync, we experience issues involving unwillingness to accept other thoughts, ideas, or knowledge. Learning how to balance this chakra is essential for opening inner doors to spiritual consciousness and emotional stability.

Let’s discover its power and learn how it can make us more spiritual, aware of our own divinity, and connected to Source energy.

Feelings of anger, hopelessness, and abandonment can occur if the crown chakra is out of alignment.

Understanding Sahasrara

The crown chakra is located right at the top of the head, and its placement relates to our awareness, spiritual awakening, and mental resilience to stressful situations.

Represented by a thousand-petal lotus, Sahasrara is a symbol of purity and spirituality, and its vibrant violet or white color embodies its divine nature.

This beautiful color symbolizes faith, mysticism, inspiration, creativity, sensitivity, and sensibility. It delivers magical and calming effects to the body, heart, and mind.

The lotus, in its exquisite and ethereal bloom, signifies enlightenment.

The journey of the lotus, rising from the mud and blossoming above the water, parallels our own personal journey, moving from earthly confines towards spiritual illumination. Each of the thousand petals of the Sahasrara symbol embodies a different path leading us to peace.

The crown chakra sign also includes a circle and a dot, known as bindu, which further emphasizes its cosmic connection. The circle, a spiritual metaphor, represents wholeness, unity, and infinity. The dot within the circle is a focal point, evocative of the portal to experiences beyond this physical realm.

Sometimes, the Om symbol ॐ, a sacred and powerful icon in Hindu tradition, can also depict this vortex of energy, as it mirrors the essence of the universe, the vibration, and consciousness from which all life emanates.

Crown chakra emotional effects

With the activation of the crown chakra, we are able to acknowledge the wonderful meaning of life.

When it is in harmony, we show compassion, acceptance, and gratitude towards ourselves and others and become closer to nature and the Creator.

The ego no longer controls us.

However, stress, illness, emotional upset, or conflict can all disrupt the energy flow of Sahasrara. Neglecting our inner self, ignoring the needs of our body, or engaging in negative thought patterns can also lead to a blockage in the crown chakra.

Furthermore, traumatic life events, depression, or significant changes in belief systems can trigger the same volatility.

Common symptoms of a DEFICIENT crown chakra include feelings of:

  • Lack of purpose
  • Loss of inspiration
  • Disillusionment
  • Negative attitude
  • Spiritual crisis
  • Skepticism
  • Apathy
  • Depression

Common symptoms of an OVERACTIVE crown chakra include feelings of:

  • Constantly living in a fantasy world
  • Overthinking
  • Lots of planning but never doing
  • Hampered ability to make decisions
  • Analysis paralysis
  • Anxiety
  • Procrastination
  • Difficulty discerning between reality and fantasy

Physical effects of a crown chakra imbalance

An imbalance in the crown chakra might manifest in various physical ways:

  1. Neurological disorders: Crown chakra imbalances can manifest as neurological issues, ranging from migraines and headaches to more severe conditions such as neurodegenerative disorders.
  2. Hormonal imbalance: The crown chakra is linked to the functioning of the pineal gland, which secretes hormones like melatonin that regulate sleep cycles. Disturbances might provoke issues such as insomnia or disrupted sleep.
  3. Sensory problems: Some people with a blocked crown chakra may experience vision or hearing impairment as physical symptoms are often a mirror of lack of “spiritual sight” and hearing.
  4. Immune system dysfunction: A balanced crown chakra helps in maintaining a strong and healthy immune system. Any interference can result in frequent illnesses and poor overall health.
  5. Fatigue: Chronic fatigue or a general lack of energy can also be a sign of a blocked crown chakra, as this suggests a detachment from Prana, the vital life force.

Other signs of blocked crown energy

If Sahasrara is out of balance, we might feel isolated and lonely.

These emotions may arise from the perceived disconnection from the world and people around us, the universe, and the divine.

Questions about existence, our dharma, or purpose, and the nature of reality can become overwhelming, especially if there is underlying depression or anxiety, which can catalyze an existential crisis or severe confusion about our place and role in the universe.

Since the crown chakra is also related to love and unity, its instability can impact our empathy and understanding towards others.

No surprisingly, this can hurt our relationships and contribute to more profound feelings of disconnection.

How to remove the blockage

There are helpful ways to balance your crown chakra.

To live well, we need to strengthen our spiritual and innate wisdom.

In the Body

Eat violet colored foods. Purple carrots, purple cabbage, eggplant, blackberries, blueberries, figs, plums, prunes, purple sweet potato, açai berries, purple asparagus, and purple or black rice should be part of your diet— if your body digests them well (discover your body type). An easy way to incorporate more violet color into your life is by using purple sweet potato powder with some of your favorite recipes.

Aromatherapy – Essential oils like frankincense, lavender, and myrrh can regulate the crown chakra. Using these in a diffuser or during meditation can be quite helpful.

Yoga, Ayurveda’s sister science, offers poses that can support the smooth flow of energy through the seventh chakra. For instance, Headstand (Sirsasana) and Lotus Pose (Padmasana). When you’re inverted in a headstand, the increase in blood flow stimulates your head, which is the physical location of the crown chakra. This upside-down perspective can lead to shifts in consciousness, fostering a sense of openness and affinity that aligns with the crown chakra’s core attributes.

Listen to 963 Hz to bring harmony to Sahasrara. The ‘Frequency of Gods’ can help you awaken your intuition and activate your connection to the divine and your higher self.

Use the color violet. In your clothes or with crystals, such as Amethyst, Lepidolite, Charoite, Sugilite, and Lavender Jade.

In the mind

Meditation. Meditation is one of the most effective ways to balance the seventh energy center. Focus on mindfulness-based reflections or those centered around universal love and connection.

Breathing exercises (pranayama). Breath work, like alternate nostril breathing, can help align the energy flow between the chakras and enhance spiritual awareness.

Sound therapy. The crown chakra resonates with the sound frequency of ‘OM’ or ‘B’ note. Tibetan singing bowls, chants, or even listening to calming music in these frequencies can help.

Journal. How do you perceive yourself as part of the vast cosmic tapestry? In what ways can you deepen your understanding of your divine nature and foster a sense of unity with all that exists?

Other ways to balance your sacral chakra: affirmations

Affirmations related to wisdom, unity, and understanding can assist in aligning the crown chakra.

Repeat them or write them down if possible. Some might resonate more with you than others.

The divine energy is one with me.

My life is guided by a higher power, and I am open to divine wisdom.
